What are esophageal varices?
Abnormal, enlarged tortuous veins around the lower end of esophagus are called esophageal varices. These most commonly occur in the background of a failing liver.

Varices commonly present with

- 4. Difficulty in swallowing
How are Varices diagnosed?
Endoscopy is the choice of investigation for the esophageal varices. It can also be seen on a contrast enhanced CT scan.
